Falling Skies

The rain creates a sense of peace

As it pours from the sky

As I’m trying to sleep

And when the sky goes boom

And the earth starts to shake

Still I lay there barely awake

For some it scares

With the earth shattering doom,

While others find restIn said moments of gloom.

And the heavier it gets

The deeper I’ll rest

Knowing that these days

Are some of the best.

The rain creates a sense of peace inside of me

While also an overwhelming wave of anxiety

The pitter patter of the drops as they fall

It’s as if the ocean is trying to call

To say hello

Or maybe goodbye

But maybe the sky

Just needs to cry

As the waters fall

And the sky it screams

I honestly do not

Understand these things

The thunder rolls

And the lightning flashes

As though the world

Is about to turn into ashes

And yet it all feels calm

In the midst of the storm

As though the dripping skies

Is a sense of norm?

But in the end,

What does that say about me?

And the consuming desire

I have to be free.
